Toss your planner out! You live in Santa Marta.

I have decided that my planner is not worth as much here as it was in other parts. Why not? Because I have had about a 25% success rate at setting up appointments with people and getting together with them. In contrast, when I just show up at someone’s house the way in which they receive me has been incredible. Last night I stopped by a neighbor’s house with whom I had talked earlier. He invited me to take a seat, and we began to converse. We talked about everything from Chicago (He’s studied it on Google Earth), to communism, to Christ. He was thrilled that I would stop by to talk, and in the conversation he gave me his opinion on appointments, “No, we’re too spontaneous for that!”

To further comfirm this idea, Holly told me that the doctor she went to last week does not have appointment times. “I begin to see people at 10:15 a.m. If you want to see me, come and wait until I have an opening.” “Why is that?”, my wife asked. “Here people don’t come to appointments anyway, so I was just wasting my time setting them up.”

Can you say “Aha moment”? Can you grab your planner with me and give it a toss? It feels so good.
